Lucky man won twice in same draw
Derek and Dawn Ladner, from Redruth, Cornwall, were thrilled when the same six numbers they used every week finally came up in the midweek lottery draw.
They initially claimed £479,142 from the £2,395,710 jackpot due to bagging the top prize with five other winners.
However, a week later Derek, then 57, was in for quite the shock when he found a second lottery ticket in his pocket.
It was from that same winning draw and thanks to his forgetfulness – when he bet twice with the same lucky numbers – their winnings increased to £958,284.

Family drama
In 2016, the Davies family won £61million on the EuroMillions.
Stephanie Davies, then 23, reluctantly bought a ticket after mum Sonia phoned from Florida and begged her to buy one.
Sonia, who worked as an administration assistant, was in the US having vital keyhole surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from the parathyroid glands in her neck, and had a feeling she would go on a winning streak after the op was a success.
But even this happy family couldn't avoid controversy as it was reported father of the family Keith, of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, would share his cash with his daughters with ex Mandy – but his wife's son was allegedly snubbed.
Keith's partner Sonia's estranged son Spencer Pugh claimed he would not see a penny of the £61million EuroMillions win.

What is the UK Millionaire Maker?
The EuroMillions millionaire maker is like a backup if you are not successful with matching the numbers. Instead if your ticket has the matching code to the draw you'll win.
According to the EuroMillions website, there is a 1 in 1,900,000 chance that a player could win the Millionaire Maker game on a Tuesday.
This shrinks to 1 in approximately 2,250,000 if there is a rollover – meaning no one has won the previous draw's jackpot.
On a Friday, it's estimated that there is a 1 in 2,950,000 chance of winning a guaranteed £1million.
If there is a quadruple rollover, the odds could fall to 1 in 3,400,000.
Winning the game depends on the number of payslips sold so the odds fluctuate from game-to-game.
The odds can also change if there is a special event.
In March 2019, EuroMillions created 40 UK millionaires in a one-off special draw.

Lottery winner became a pig farmer
For many, winning the jackpot means mass celebrations and ultra-expensive cars – but not for Susan Hardman.
When the mum-of-one's numbers came up in January 2010 she worked as a hairdresser in Eardisley, Hereford, and was "struggling financially".
Instead of splashing out when the £1.2million win landed in her bank account, she traded in her scissors for overalls and became a pig farmer.
Susan claimed to be happier than ever knee-deep in mud and said bringing a piglet into the world brought her "more satisfaction" than winning the lottery.
In 2015, she told the Daily Mail: "I was perfectly groomed, my clothes and make-up were always carefully picked out – now I always smell of pigs.
"Ironically, these days I buy most of my clothes from second-hand charity shops… Friends think I'm crazy."
Susan's life is now a far cry from her previous struggles, when she was forced to "turn down the thermostat" because she "couldn't afford the bills".
Last year she told the Mirror: "When I won, I think I immediately turned the heating up and I realised I'd never be cold again."

EuroMillions winner celebrated by drinking tea all night
While most lottery winners would be tempted to splash out on fancy Champagne, Anne Canavan had very different plans.
The mum, from Northern Ireland, couldn't believe her luck and felt fate had intervened after her £1million EuroMillions win in 2015.
On the day she picked the winning numbers, Anne joked with a neighbour that it was "about time someone from around here won".
Normally she "always waited a week" before checking her lottery ticket but that night things were different.
"At 1am, I suddenly had the urge to check the results so I switched my laptop on, when I realised I'd won I woke my daughter up," she recalled.
"It took half an hour to convince her that I wasn't joking, and after that we stayed up all night with cups of tea planning what to do with the money."
Anne went on to spend £50,000 renovating her four-bedroom house and funnelled other funds into inventions – including self-sealing gift pouches.

Business doesn't stop
Winning £1m was sheer luck for Jamie Heavens, who purchased a Millionaire Riches Scratch card after watching a customer in front of him do it.
After leaving the petrol station, he pulled into a layby to scratch it off and was gobsmacked when he won.
However, hardworking Jamie, from Bournemouth, had no intention of quitting his day job.
Jamie told the Mirror: "It was 7.30 in the morning and I still had a day's shift ahead… I won a million pounds and earned another £100 for my shift."
After that the roofer and his fiance Danielle spent £25,000 on a lavish wedding with "a band, a videographer and a massive marquee".
He bought a business but feels rather happy about his new job, adding: "I still work but now I'm my own boss!"

'When you're told you're a millionaire, it feels limitless'
Roger Griffiths and his wife Lara netted £1.8million on the National Lottery in 2005.
He had worked as an IT manager and she as a performing arts teacher but both quit their jobs.
The couple enjoyed the high life and went on a lavish spending spree splashing £800,000 on a barn conversion in Yorkshire, flash cars and five-star holidays in Dubai, New York and Monaco.
Wannabe rock star Roger also spent £25,000 making a record with his old band from Lancaster University.
The couple invested in property and a beauty salon but the housing crash saw the value of their portfolio plummet.
By 2013 the money had gone and the couple had split up, each blaming each other for the reversal in their fortunes.
Roger said: "When you're told you're a millionaire, it feels limitless. We had played the Lottery for years – when I found out I'd won, it was overwhelming."
Lara has revealed she has to sell her collection of designer handbags now to get by.

'Money made my close relatives demanding and greedy'
Euromillions mum Gillian Bayford is locked in a family feud over her share of a £148million jackpot.
Gillian, 44, accused her dad Ian McCulloch, 72, of trying to seize control of the fortune she won with her ex Adrian Bayford, 46.
The Dundee mum of two blasted Ian, mum Brenda and brother Colin, 42, saying: "It made them bitter and greedy."
And she told how she gave them a £20million slice of her fortune — only for them to come back for more.
Gillian, who runs a property firm in Dundee, said: "It's upsetting and it's raw. The money was supposed to make everybody happy.
"But it's made my close relatives demanding and greedy."

What happens if no one claims a prize?
If no UK players come forward within 180 days then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated while it is held in trust, goes to National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
The National Lottery have said: "Our players change the lives of individuals as well as communities by raising, on average, over £33 million for National Lottery-funded projects every week."

Tips to get lucky numbers
Avoid repeats - Another top tip is to ensure you are always choosing numbers that weren't drawn last week.
While it might seem 3 is a lucky number, just because it appeared in the previous draw, it doesn't mean it will again next time.
Odds and evens - According to expert analysis, all-odd and all-even line-ups are drawn less than three per cent of the time.
As there are seven gaps to fill, this means it is best to pick three odd and two even, or two odd and three even.
One of these patterns will occur in 68 per cent of EuroMillions draws.
Shun same last digits - Similarly to odds and evens, it's good to mix things up when it comes to the second digit of your numbers.
Even if seven might be your lucky number, think twice about choosing 7, 17, 27, 37 and 47.
Almost 90 per cent of draws have no more than one repeated last digit.
And your chances of winning with four same final digits drop to less than two tenths of one per cent.

Special win after 'scary' pandemic
A syndicate of 53 NHS workers won £118,044 on EuroMillions earlier this month.
They matched five numbers and one lucky star in the October 8 draw.
The syndicate members are mostly pharmacy staff at Morriston Hospital in Swansea and aged between 20 and 63.
They have been working flat out during the pandemic.
Pharmacy technician Kim Owen, 61, said: "It's been a scary time for all of us so the win is extra special."
Members of the syndicate, which is called the Pharmily Crew, will each receive £2,227. Most say they will spend their share on sunshine holidays.

Whole lotto misery
A LOTTERY winner was killed by her doctor husband who injected her with painkillers after he accused her of squandering the cash.
Joseph Roncaioli, 72, was found guilty of the manslaughter of his wife Ibi who won $10 million she split with her friend.
Prosecutors told his trial he may have been have been upset his wife squandered the couple's fortune leaving them with little money for retirement, the Toronto Star reported.
Passing sentence, the trial judge said his crime "more resembles a murder than an accidental killing".
"It was intentional, not spontaneous," said Justice Jane Ferguson.
Hungarian-born Ibi and her friend won $10 million on the lottery in Canada back in 1991 and the pair split the winnings.
Her husband's trial heard that she gave away $2 million on a son whose existence was a secret from her other two boys.

What happens to unclaimed prizes?
Any cash that isn't claimed after a total of 180 days from a game played in the UK goes to National Lottery projects across the country.
Folks in Ireland have just half that time to claim too, with only 90 days before the prize money is off the table.
Once the claim period is over, the ticket officially expires and the owner of the lottery ticket will no longer be able to claim any of their winnings.
But after that time has expired, any unclaimed prizes, plus any interest they might have accumulated in that time, are allocated to the National Lottery's Good Causes fund instead.
This will usually then go on to help fund things like sport programmes or local community buildings or other projects.

Explained: How does the National Lottery work?
The National Lottery raises money to go to many 'good causes' and have helped give out numerous grants to those that need it most.
On their website they state: "We retain around just 1% of revenue in profit, while around 95% of total revenue goes back to winners and society. More so, we run one of the most cost-efficient major lotteries in Europe, with around 4% of total revenue spent on operating costs.
"To date, National Lottery players have helped to raise over £43 billion for Good Causes, with more than 635,000 individual awards made across the UK – the equivalent of more than 225 lottery grants in every UK postcode district."
